The keyboard has no built-in sound capabilities of its own it is intended to be used with the Session software, which has a good collection of MIDI samples and effects and outputs via Fast Track, or with M-Audio’s Micro USB Audio Interface, which is supplied with Session. There are Pitch Bend and Modulation wheels on the keyboard to tweak the sound as you play, and Octave buttons for when you want to emulate a piccolo or double bass. The action feels a little light, but the ‘touch’ is OK and you soon adjust to playing forte or pianissimo. The KeyStudio keyboard is well made, with 49 full-size, touch-sensitive keys. Our challenge was to try out this hardware - specifically the KeyStudio MIDI keyboard and Fast Track audio interface - with Linux applications. Unfortunately, its bundled software, called Session, is for Windows only. Its new “make-music-now” line of products, aimed at musicians just getting into computers or PC users with an interest in music, includes a microphone, speakers, drum machine, and DJ mixer deck.

At the same time, I always have my eye on what might be needed to replace it.Īnd I am overdue for an interface update myself.M-Audio has supplied hardware and software to computer-based musicians for 20 years. Many people complaining about Win10 64 bit issues. It seems troubles began to surface beyond Win7 32bit and got worse as time went on. Driver updates necessary to keep up with evolving OS versions just didnt happen. There has been a lot of discussion elsewhere about this specific issue.įrom what I understand, some years ago the M-Audio was split up and sold to two different companies, with Avid getting the Fast Track product line, which they apparently have let die. But maybe Acoustica Tech Support or other forum members can help, however it's Sunday, so check back here later (Acoustica Greg should see your post sometime Monday). I think the easiest solution would obviously be to upgrade your old audio interface.

Hello Scott and welcome to the Mixcraft forum.īummer, my guess is it's a driver problem. Open mixcraft and check the input device is reading and it is but as soon as I hit "arm" it comes up with an error saying check device driver is up to date or that device is plugged in correctly. However I have installed a driver and it is picking it up on the sound tab of windows and reading then I make a noise or hit a note.
